This 1350 ft loft apartment is located in the centre of Amsterdam. When meeting the couple who were living in this apartment, it was evident that architects’ style and personalities were very much aligned, and this set the course for a great project.
This vibrant couple loves the industrial look and the style icons of the 80’ and 90’s. Their goal was to completely revamp the space into an industrial loft. Kimmik wasn’t afraid of some major changes. Their first and best decision was to pay tribute to the magnificent space and structure, by demolishing interior walls, replace floors and remove facilities. All in order to merge a former bedroom, kitchen and livingroom into a new large and light space. The next step was to create a minimalist interior going hand in hand with modern comfort and some subtle opulence.
Kimmik created a new open kitchen with stainless steel worktop. They introduced colour changing LED lights, huge iron cabinets, concrete ciré and walls painted in different shades of grey. Together they made nimble decisions to bring a unique feel to this apartment.
The overall appearance is very industrial and minimalistic, but it also has a warm feel to it. A nice large fabric sofa, a pile rug and a large wooden dining table really stand out and give you a very homely feel.
