Top designer Marcel Wanders, owner of the Westerhuis in Amsterdam, has entered into a partnership with Aedes Real Estate for its development and commercial exploitation. The combined property expertise of Paul Geertman (Managing Director of Aedes) and the creative vision of Wanders give the new plans for Westerhuis a solid basis. In the former school a cultural flagship building has been realized, in which also Marcel Wanders studio has set up business.
According to Marcel Wanders, Westerhuis will be a “flagship for art and cultural enterprise and a great impulse for the creative industry in the inner city. “The project is highly attractive both to national and international visitors and to its immediate vicinity. The building will be buzzing with creativity”. That is why Marcel Wanders himself will set up his designer studio in the building. The majority of the spaces have been leased to creative businesses. In addition, part of the building has been reserved for Moooi gallery and an exhibition space.
